How we started
Vet Claire founded Vet2Cat in 2019 from a desire to do better for cats.
She has spent many years in general practice honing her cat skills and knowledge. However, seeing cats and their ‘humans’ stressed out at the vet’s inspired her to think outside the box. Unfortunately, many cats don’t receive the right care simply because getting the cat to the vet’s is too difficult for all involved.
It’s quite common to see cat carers anxious, upset or sometimes injured in the process of bringing their cat in for treatment.
The cats themselves are often so nervous that they can vomit or soil themselves, they might become aggressive, or even if they adopt the ‘freeze mode’, they will still be incredibly scared. The cat remembers all of these frightening experiences, so over time their reactions can get worse.
Elderly cats with heart or thyroid disease or high blood pressure are especially fragile, and the trauma of the whole vet experience can upset your cat even more.
