Call-out Fee + Consultation Fee

Our Fees

A typical Vet2Cat visit will be made up of:
Call-out Fee + Consultation Fee

To calculate what your base visit fee will cost:

  1. Select what zone you are in (call us if you are not sure)
  2. Add on any surcharge for time of day – during our normal working hours this is £0 (call-outs outside our normal hours are only by special arrangement – call us for more information)
  3. Add on the consultation fee

Examples:

  1. A core zone visit in normal hours for a first consultation = £30 + 0 + £50 = £80
  2. An extended zone visit in normal hours for a flu/enteritis/leukaemia booster = £45 + 0 + £82 = £127

Other procedures required and any medicines given will be charged in addition.

Insurance

Vet2Cat recommends covering your cats with Pet Insurance.
We can handle insurance claims as any veterinary practice does.

In general, you need to settle your account with us, and the insurance company will reimburse you minus any excess fee, part-payments, or uninsured items. We may be able to process a direct claim for large bills, IF the company has agreed to cover the claim – a pre-authorisation claim must be submitted to assess this. We can help you with any paperwork required.

It is note-worthy that some policies may not cover the cost of call-out fees for house visits.

If you are choosing a policy:

There are hundreds of policies available, it can be difficult to choose one. We are not an insurance advisor so cannot recommend any particular policy. In general, look for policies which give life-long cover (not time-limited) and provide several thousands of cover per condition, or per annum, or unlimited cover. Cheap policies can seem attractive, but please read the T&C’s to check exactly what they will and will not cover.

Administration fees:

As we are a very small company and the processing of insurance forms is very time-consuming we do charge a small administrative fee. It is unlikely that the fee is claimable. Normal claim: £5. Direct claim: £15.

The Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare

These apply to all animals in the care of humans, whether a house pet, a horse, farm or zoo animals:

  1. Freedom From Hunger and Thirst
  2. Freedom From Discomfort
  3. Freedom From Pain, Injury or Disease
  4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour
  5. Freedom From Fear and Distress
