Cat of the month July 2021

Another busy hot month for us at Vet2Cat. We are desperately trying to find a second cat-nurse so we can provide routine visits on more days of the week without running Claire & Emma into the ground! So far, we have been unsuccessful – vet nurses (and vets) are as rare as hens’ teeth, then adding the requirement to be feline-friendly makes them as rare as gold-plated hens’ teeth!

But we still managed to see a lot of wonderful kitties this month and selected 3, well actually 5, as 2 lots of 2 kind of come as joint packages!

This month winning prize goes post-humously to

JAKE (RIP)

This amazing resilient ginger chap was diagnosed with an oral sarcoma cancer at the beginning of June.

Jake’s tumour was starting to show

With this kind of cancer, the majority off cats do not manage to survive past 30 days. Jake proved them wrong.

With the dedication and unwavering love from his owners Jake lived a happy comfortable life for 8 weeks after diagnosis. Sadly, despite his beautiful soul, Jake’s parents had to make the hardest decision to say goodbye.

Even though he is no longer with us, Jake made such a huge pawprint on our hearts that he most definitely deserves to be our July winner.

Runners up: Tinkerbell and Rex

These beautiful two black and white cats are simply amazing. Both cats were visited for a general check up by the Vet2Cat team. We came bearing gifts of catnip stuffed kick-sticks, which they both enjoyed tremendously before we got down to business.

During this visit it was discovered that the lovely Tinkerbell had a heart problem, so an echocardiogram was arranged, showing the need for some prophylactic treatment.  This highlights the importance of annual check ups even if your cat looks great!

Rex was also checked by the team as he has a lump which concerned his owner. Tests so far have ruled out the nasty ‘C’ but further investigations are still required.

Runners Up: Thug & Javi

Javi enjoys a head scratch
Thug looks for an extra treat

The rather enamouring Thug and Javi (proper names Gavroche & Javert) are our final runners up for this July. This lovely pair of boys are very special. They couldn’t be more different in personality but both are extremely charming. They both co-operated beautifully for their Vet2Cat senior cat check-ups, including vaccinations and blood pressure monitoring. Thug in particular will do whatever he can to get those Dreamies from the team!
